As a reward for the highest donation tier, I decided to let the donor request a piece to be arranged and published as a part of this album. I don’t remember quite what was requested other than “something from a game I like. Maybe a Final Fantasy game?” This song leapt to the top of my head. Not only is it one of the most-requested songs by fans when I bring my cello to cons, it also sits really well on the instrument and has a powerful chord progression. For this arrangement, I channeled a kind of theme and variation style. The theme definitely reminds me of “La Folia,” a baroque melody composers have used to make theme and variations over centuries. After the last bit I felt like my arm was going to fall off.
